“Who wants those gleaming white cosmetically enhanced Hollywood teeth?’’ - Georgia Jagger

This is our work!

A smile makeover is an intimate, highly personalizeded process. Our set of teeth, just like all of our physical features, is unique to us. Teeth have a particular texture and character that distinguishes them from another person’s teeth. They are not monochromatic, but rather consisting of a whole spectrum of colours. Good dental work, much like good art, should strive to imitate this natural look, taking into account the patient’s physical characteristics as well as his/her aspirations and desires. And yet, the images that dominate the Internet today are of teeth that are whiter than snow. Dental clinics the world over, are posting pictures of what seem to be pitch-perfect Hollywood smiles. Before you get dazzled by all the artificial uniform smiles in most galleries, here is a quick guide on what you should be observing, when looking at dental work pictures.

  • Does the photo show details of the prosthetic work or is the work hidden behind a generic smile?
  • Do the gums of the patient appear healthy and natural or do they suffer from permanent gum bleeding caused by inappropriate prosthetic work? Pictures that avoid showing the gums are not to be trusted!
  • Are the teeth naturally proportionate as regards their size, length, gum line, and laughing line?
  • Are the teeth monochromatic, usually super white (“toilet white”), or are they naturally white and shiny?
  • Do their edges have a natural transparent appearance as they naturally should or are they telling the world they are fake by their all solid whiteness?
  • Do the teeth appear to have a unique texture and shine or are they flat looking, characterless and boring - the result of a mass production computer procedure?
